Local Coffee is a concept introduced by Robert and Adele Genovese and founded in 2017. Local is the culmination of over 30 years of experience in the hospitality and marketing industries. It is the realization that a significant opportunity exists in the premium coffee space as a result of dilution of offerings by the larger chains and a general inability for independents to develop the integrated systems and the connectivity necessary to satisfy basic efficiencies and grow.

We understand the importance of coffee as a culture and creating a space where community members can join and share time together. We also understand the importance of neighborhoods and being an active, contributing member. Every piece of the journey matters, from bean to cup, and we have developed the processes to accurately found, grow, and sustain this shop to stay the course in any community across the nation.

Our proven operating practices, the careful selection of our menu items, and our community roots have set us up to offer a successful franchise system that realizes all of the efficiencies of a larger chain while remaining nimble and agile to cater to the daily needs of the business. Local aims to the first independent, interconnected coffee shop network. We are seeking to award franchises to qualified candidates who share our vision.

Meet the Founders

ROBERT GENOVESE

Robert was introduced into the hospitality industry at a very early age at his NYC family owned and operated business. ‘Milady’s Bar’, the famous dive bar and restaurant in the heart of Greenwich Village, served neighborhood residents for over 50 years. It was here where he came to understand the importance of community hubs where locals could gather and spend some time together. Robert graduated with a degree in Hospitality and established a love of coffeehouses and coffee culture during these formative years working in the restaurant industry. Time spent in Europe and on the West Coast in Venice Beach sealed the deal to one day open his own shop. At Local, he brings together the best of these practices and environments for his neighbors in Montclair, New Jersey.

ADELE GENOVESE

Adele was born in Palermo, Sicily and came to the United States when she was just 7 years old. Adele’s family brought old world Italian culture to New York maintaining many of the traditions focused squarely on family and bringing everyone together frequently to break bread over a meal. Coffee culture was prominent in her house as the perfect punctuation to the meal or a time to pause during the day and take stock of what’s really important. Adele brings a warm sense of family and community to the space and is responsible for hand selecting the delicious pastries that will be available at Local.

Our shops are unique in their clean, contemporary design aesthetic serving consistent, traditional coffee and tea beverages, as well as premium and highly curated treats 7 days a week. Each shop is built around the community it resides in, rallying around local causes and partnering with local businesses.

Our franchise system provides the coffee fundamentals, business tools, coffee shop acumen, design services, marketing savvy, and overarching hands-on approach to create a truly powerful global platform. For the first year, we will visit your Local Coffee franchise on a monthly schedule. We work to ensure accountability and replicated practices that have contributed to the ongoing success of our brand.

Operational Support

We want to see you succeed. We will work to ensure adequate support within product ordering, customer service techniques, administrative practices, and more.

Marketing Guidance

Local Coffee will work to develop collateral to be used at the local and regional level, benefiting the entire franchise network.
